Ships have been coming to dock at Aalborg Pier for hundreds of years now. There is where the ships come to leave behind the barren ocean winds and the crashing waves and where the crew can step onto dry land again. In the past, it never took long for the seafarers’ tales from distant shores to be retold on dry land.
And today, despite the fact that sails have been replaced with engines, wooden boxes haven been replaced by storage containers and nautical charts are now GPSs, it is still the same water that splashes against the pier, and whenever a boat docks, it still sparks a thirst and curiosity for tales from the sea. The newly renovated Pier 5 Hotel on Aalborg’s waterfront offers 154 state-of-the-art rooms with the best view in the city. Here, modern design is offset by the view of the port, and draws the port’s history and heritage inside.
